Dan and Hillary’s big day

Dollhouse April 13, 2009

Just went to Dollhouse on 18th and Central to set things up with the wonderful Sarah Thompson Lift for the wedding. This will be our meeting place for the girls on the day of the wedding. We’ll get “dolled up” here and let them take care of us! To get in touch with Sarah or Ashley, call the studio at 816-399-4222 to schedule an appointment. They can arrange massages, manicures, food, bubblies, hair, and makeup before any event.

It is a vintage-looking dress-up studio, set up to look like what you dreamt of as a little one. Sarah and Ashley are photo stylists who have worked on huge, funky, crazy brands, and now work with brides. They’re portfolios are gi-normous, just ask ‘em to see it! They are open on First Fridays in the Crossroads for gallery showings so stop by for a look.

SOOOO cool, what an amazing idea that you’ve stumbled upon! Twitter allows so little space to type, but a friend of mine and I have been dabbling in perhaps starting a wedding planning business together, and this has been an amazing example of how our event planning landscape is changing around us and that we DON’T need to spend $30,000+ to have a really brilliant wedding!! My wedding ended up being super cheap, too, and established through means of good ol’ fashioned face-to-face networking that produced a really uniqe event! But I am waaaaaay jealous of YOUR ideas!! ;) Best of luck!!

Thanks! I just love the girls at Dollhouse, too. I’m so flabbergasted that people care enough to help me with my special day. I totally agree about the event planning business. Contrary to what people say about the “recession”, it is a trying time and I believe it’s inspiring to people. I think there will be more self-sufficient businesses, people, ideas that come from it. More creativity, because it’s required in this economy. I think it will stir happiness and we will be better for it when it’s all said and done. Good luck to you in your endeavors, and if there’s anything I can help you with, give me a jingle!

So I’m a little late to the party, but enjoying your blog, Hillary. This place is so beautiful and girly. I hate to say that my first thought, since I’m already married, was what a fun place this would be for a little girls dress up birthday party. Of course goes against my ideal that little girls should stay little as long as possible, but…
